The Russian Federation banned on Friday a UN Security Council
draft resolution condemning its invasion of bordering Ukraine and asking for withdrawal of its
troops from the country.
The draft, collectively offered by the USA and Albania, was backed by 11 Council
members with the three remaining members staying away.
A comparable draft is expected to be tabled to the UN General Assembly for voting. The draft
condemns in the toughest terms the Russian army aggressiveness and terms it as an outright
offense of the fourth paragraph of Write-up Il of the UN Charter which bans “the risk or usage
of pressure against the territorial stability or political freedom of any State.” The draft renews
support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and also territorial stability within the
globally identified borders
